Empowering Multifamily Professionals Through Industry-Leading Training
For decades, the Fort Worth Apartment Association (FWAA) has been a trusted resource for high-quality education and training in the multifamily industry. From foundational knowledge to advanced certifications, FWAA ensures industry professionals stay informed, equipped, and compliant with current trends, best practices, and legal standards. Whether you’re new to property management or a seasoned pro, FWAA’s upcoming educational lineup has something to help you grow, stay sharp, and serve your communities with excellence.
Kicking off the month is the Fair Housing Course on April 1 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Fair housing law is essential for every multifamily professional to understand and apply consistently. This class goes beyond the basics and addresses common scenarios that can catch teams off guard. Attendees will review key Fair Housing principles as they relate to leasing activities including greetings, qualifying, touring, and closing. The course also dives into the difference between accommodations and modifications, how to properly address both mental and physical disabilities, and how to distinguish between service animals and pets. It’s a critical training to help property teams remain compliant and confident in real-life situations.
On April 9 and 10, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day, FWAA will offer the Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Course in English. This nationally recognized certification provides individuals with the knowledge and skills needed for proper pool operations. It’s backed by the Pool and Hot Tub Alliance and accredited by ANSI, assuring that attendees receive training that meets the highest industry standards. Participants will learn the latest techniques in chemical treatment, filtration, equipment operation, and pool maintenance to keep facilities safe, clean, and regulation-ready.
Assistant managers, get ready! On April 23 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, FWAA will launch Part 1 of its brand-new Assistant Manager Club—an immersive workshop designed for the overachieving go-getter ready to sharpen their skills and level up. This session tackles time management, organization, collections best practices (including a review of TAA forms), and effective conflict resolution. You’ll also gain practical tools to support your transition from a “sometime” leader to an “all-the-time” leader. If you’ve ever felt like you wear every hat on the property—this club is for you. Registration is $109 for members, $209 for non-members, and free for STAR subscribers.
Next up is the Basic Pool Operator (BPO) Course on April 29 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This one-day class is required for individuals responsible for operating and managing class C, D, and E public swimming pools and spas. It offers a foundational understanding of pool safety, water chemistry, filtration, chemical handling, and Texas Department of State Health and Services (TDSHS) pool rules. Upon passing the exam, attendees receive a certificate valid for three years. Note: This course is not the same as the CPO course.
Then, on April 30 and May 1 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, FWAA will offer the Certified Pool Operator Course in Spanish. This session mirrors the English CPO course and is ideal for Spanish-speaking maintenance professionals. Attendees will gain the tools needed to reduce risks in and around water, prevent accidents and illnesses, maintain chemical balance, troubleshoot pool issues, and ensure proper documentation and compliance. It’s a comprehensive training program designed to protect residents, staff, and facilities.
Also launching on April 30 is the Certified Apartment Manager (CAM) Spring Session. Running through May 29, this credential program from the National Apartment Association Education Institute (NAAEI) is designed to elevate the careers of multifamily professionals. CAM offers in-depth instruction on topics such as occupancy growth, financial performance, leadership, and resident satisfaction. It’s a powerful investment for those ready to step into management roles or sharpen their existing skillset.
