I hope that you all have survived April Fools Day 2024. One of the things I have grown to cherish in our association is the robust sense of humor that defines our community. Don’t get me wrong, we are made up of a tremendous group of very smart and very talented hard-working, trendsetting leaders in our industry. You should all be very proud. But it doesn’t take very much to flip the switch and default to humor. It is good to have that balance in your life.
The middle part of March saw some of our members, leaders and staff in our Nation’s capital for NAA Advocate. This is an annual gathering in Washington DC to meet with our public servants to talk about the concerns that we have as an industry and move for change. This year our focus was on asking our elected officials to rescind the 30-Day Notice requirement that was left over from the CARES Act. Everyone that we spoke to was very receptive and understanding that this would be best for all members of our industry.
If you didn’t get a chance to play in the FWAA Spring Fling Golf Tournament on April 4th or want to play more golf for a great cause, come on out on May 7th for the FWAA Military Veterans Golf Tournament and support the great work that the PTSD Foundation of America is doing to save lives of those who have served our Country.
Finishing out the busy month of April is the TAA ONE Conference in historic San Antonio! I know we will be well represented just in time for FIESTA! Our very own Cayce Coon of Madera Residential is co-chairing the event with Chelsea Kneeland of J Turner Research. This event will be full of opportunities to Learn, Connect and Grow.
Lastly, don’t forget to take time to celebrate and appreciate those around you. Let’s let our voices be the loudest voices out there as we lift, encourage and build up those we work with and our residents. People need what you have. Be the light!
