Dear FWAA Members,
Happy New Year! As we step into 2025, I want to take a moment to reflect on the journey we’ve taken together and look ahead to the opportunities that await us. For over 20 years, I’ve called FWAA my home, and I continue to be inspired by the strength, passion, and drive that our members bring to the table. Together, we’ve created something truly special—a community where we grow, support one another, and build a legacy that will last for years to come.
“If you build it, they will come.” This phrase from Field of Dreams resonates deeply with me as I think about the work we’ve done here at FWAA. We’ve built a community grounded in advocacy, education, and connection. But we’re not stopping there. This year, let’s take it a step further and remember what it is we’re here to build together.
If you teach it, they will grow. Over the years, we’ve created incredible opportunities for learning and development. Whether through educational programs, workshops, or mentoring, we’ve seen people take their careers to new heights because they had the resources, the support, and the knowledge to succeed. I challenge each of you to think about how you can contribute to this growth—whether by sharing your expertise or learning something new. The more we teach, the more we all grow.
If you advocate, you will make change. As an association, we’ve always been at the forefront of advocating for our industry. From legislative changes to new initiatives, the collective power of our voice has been the catalyst for positive change. This year, with many critical issues on the table, we need to continue that work. Our advocacy efforts are not just about the issues of today, but about laying the groundwork for a brighter future.
If you network, you will get connected. One of the most valuable aspects of being part of this association is the relationships we build. It’s through these connections that we share ideas, create partnerships, and open doors for opportunities. Networking is not just about growing our careers—it’s about lifting each other up and creating a stronger community. If you’re not already involved, I encourage you to join a committee, attend an event, or simply reach out to a fellow member. You’ll be amazed at what can happen when we all come together.
This year, I ask each of you to reflect on your journey with FWAA and think about how you can continue to contribute to the growth and success of this community. Whether you’re a seasoned member or someone just starting out, we all have something valuable to offer. Together, we can continue to build a place where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
I think we change the mindset, there are no shoes to fill; there are shoes to outgrow. This association is not about any one individual but about all of us working together to create something bigger than ourselves. It’s up to us to pass on the lessons we’ve learned, to inspire the next generation, and to keep building the future of this great community.
Let’s make 2025 the year we continue to build, grow, advocate, and connect. Let’s make it the year we welcome new talent, continue to learn from one another, and make an even greater impact in our industry.
Thank you for the privilege of serving as your president. I look forward to the incredible things we’ll accomplish together this year. Let’s go!
With excitement and gratitude,
Sarah Turner, J Street Property Services
