John Mitchell Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

Retired AATC Executive Director John Mitchell received the National Apartment Association’s (NAA) Lifetime Achievement Award during the 2021 NAA Assembly of Delegates meeting held last month in Cincinnati.

The NAA Lifetime Achievement Award is a very prestigious award that recognizes the contributions of our Supplier Partners and our Association Executives for their long-term history of exemplary national service and accomplishments to the National Apartment Association and the rental housing industry.

John, affectionately known as the “Godfather” of NAA Association Executives, embodies exemplary service and accomplishments. He served as AATC’s Executive Director for more than 29 years. During his tenure, AATC grew from a small-local association into a nationally recognized large association with more than 1,800 members and more than 225,000 rental units.

During his time with AATC, John received both the Texas Apartment Association and National Apartment Association Executive of the Year awards for his efforts. His leadership has facilitated numerous programs and events that have transformed local, state, and national apartment associations. Just a few of his accomplishments include Leadership Lyceum, Business Exchange, and the AATC membership structure.

AATC, TAA, NAA, and countless multifamily professionals and staff are better and brighter because of John. Congratulations John on being recognized for this achievement.

Well done good and faithful servant. Thank you for everything you’ve done for this industry and for AATC.
