FWAA NextGen: In Your Comfort Zone

Three years ago, I joined FWAA, completely clueless about multifamily and arguably even my job. Stepping into a room filled with strangers was a challenge for someone reserved like me. From day one, I was out of my comfort zone.

Despite my attempts to blend in, the people of FWAA made sure that never happened. As time progressed, acquaintances evolved into friendships, and my understanding of the industry flourished.
Reflecting on these last three years, it is evident that joining the association was the best career move I could have made. I discovered the invaluable wisdom of those who had paved the way before me and became a better leader because of them.

As we usher in 2024, I am thrilled and honored to co-chair the Next Gen Committee, or as I prefer, Next “Gin,” alongside Alexandra Rohloff. Collaborating with the incredible Coni Leal (who deserves credit for the hard work) and the entire AATC staff, we are excited to partner and support the next generation of leaders in multifamily and to make sure that everyone feels welcomed and loved in this association.

This year, we are launching several impactful initiatives, including mentorship programs, educational endeavors, fundraising initiatives, and active support for the Lone Star Awards nomination process, ensuring that outstanding individuals receive the recognition they deserve. Additionally, we’ve revamped our budget to provide more FREE FOOD AND DRINKS than ever before. This promises to be an engaging and enjoyable group, and we can’t wait for you to join us!

We extend an invitation to individuals of all ages, encouraging them to participate as mentors or members. Regardless of your role, there is a wealth of fun and knowledge awaiting you.

In the community of FWAA, and more specifically within the Next Gen Committee, there is no better place to learn, grow, and forge lasting connections.

Looking forward to seeing you soon,
Micah Stateson
