EPA Certification for HVAC Professionals: Fort Worth Apartment Association
According to federal law, individuals who purchase refrigerant or repair and replace air conditioning systems must be certified through an EPA-approved testing organization. The Fort Worth Apartment Association (FWAA) is an approved provider of the EPA certification course. This class is ideal for those seeking to obtain the EPA Type I, Type II, Type III, or Universal HVAC certification.
The course serves as both a review of the course workbook and a refresher, preparing participants to take the exam at the end of the day. Please note that only individuals certified under Section 608 are authorized to purchase refrigerants, evaporators, and condensers, as well as work on sealed air conditioning systems.
EPA Certification Types:
- Type I: Certification for working on small appliances containing 5 lbs. or less of refrigerant.
- Type II: Certification for working on medium, high, and very-high pressure appliances.
- Type III: Certification for working on low-pressure appliances.
- Universal Certification: Granted to individuals holding Type I, Type II, and Type III certifications.

Payment: Payment must be received before attending the course. Students will not be allowed to participate if payment is not received.
Study Guide: Upon registration, the EPA 608 Study Guide will be emailed. The guide must be reviewed at least two weeks prior to the course. Participants should have a working knowledge of refrigerant recovery.
